Greetings from Coimbatore. This is the first time that Indian association of Paediatric surgeons activities have come in the internet, thanks to Adcraft Coimbatore.

The following text is the copy of the Brochure that was sent to all the delegates. The registration form at the end of the text can be downloaded and printed. Once the programme is ready it will be updated through the above site.

We have great pleasure in inviting you for the 24th annual conference of the Indian Association of Paediatric surgeons to be held in Coimbatore form 8th October to 11th October. This is the second time the IAPS conference is being held in Coimbatore after the one we had in 1983.

Coimbatore is multifaceted city of excellence, famous for textile mills and small-scale industries. It has pleasant weather in October. Nearby hill stations such as Coonoor and Ooty, Madumali wild life sanctuary offer exciting opportunities for sight seeing for you and to your family. The beautiful hill stations Kodaikanal and Munnar are 175 Km from Coimbatore. Tamilnadu has wonderful architectural monuments built several hundreds of years ago in Madurai, Thanjavur, and Trichy.( About 300Km from Coimbatore ) The organising Committee can arrange for visits to these places if informed about your programme early. if you need more infromation about Coimbatore you can access through www.coimbatore.com. Early registration July 31st

A preconference laparoscopic workshop is being organised at the PSG Medical College hospital on 8th October. A single day preconference workshop will lay emphasis on
a) Scope of laparoscopy in children,
b) Instrumentation,
c) Demonstration of some simple diagnostic and surgical-procedures.
d) Demonstration of certain procedures through Video clippings.

Edited Video clippings on various Laparoscopic procedures by delegates are welcome (15 minutes each.) It is preferable to have audio commentary. Otherwise the procedure step by step should be type written and sent along with Videocassettes.

The videocassettes may be sent to the organising secretary before 31st August. If number of persons send similar procedure the best cassette will be chosen for presentation. Care will be taken to see the videocassettes are returned promptly.

Computer education
From 9th to 11th October every day there will be half hour session on basics of computers and their application to practicing surgeons.The following topic will be discussed.1. Basics of computer. 2. Slide making for teaching purposes. 3.Data maintenance and if time permits the internet applications for paracticing surgeons .

CME programme. The CME lectures will be on all the three days of conference. The faculty consists of our own members from India and abroad. The topics have been chosen as per suggestions given by the members in response to the questionnaire.

Freepaper session.
The guidelines for submitting the free papers have been sent already in the Newsletter of the IAPS by the secretary of IAPS. The last date for submission of abstracts is June 30th and the abstracts have to be sent to Secretary IAPS New Delhi. A symposium on Pediatric Thoracic surgery is being organized and those who want to participate are requested to contact Dr.D.K.Gupta.

A three-minute presentation of papers as done in some international conferences has been introduced this time as an experimental procedure. If successful it shall be a regular feature. It is advisable not to present more than 6 slides for the three-minute presentation and be very specific of what you want to convey.

Poster presentation.Facilities will be provided for poster presentation at the conference venue. Based on the content, presentation and aesthetic quality prizes will be awarded. Poster size should not exceed 30"X 24".

Trade exhibition. Leading makers of instruments of Aped surgical work and laparoscopic work suture materials and pharmaceutical companies are being invited to display their products.
