is 10 years old chronologically, while experientially it is 80,
as depicted in Figure 1. Sharing and participating in human pain,
losses and gains caused by cancer, has been channeled into a movement
that attends to nearly 50 cancer patients daily. Conceptually
a new venture, with a blend of Western logical pragmatism and
Eastern sensitivity, CCF is enveloped by an enigmatic and mystical
aura. CCF
is now prepared to share its findings for the benefit of the
society that's given it space to root, grow and establish. Herein,
are the philosophy and essence that form the core of all CCF
activities:
- "Truth
and Compassion triumph over evil" -KS
- Life,
Energy and movement are essential in dealing with suffering
and dying....
- Contractual
giving and help is meaningful and purposeful.
Supportive
Cancer Care means
- Preparing
the patient and the family to accept the disease, the treatment
and helping them to participate in their cure, healing and
dying.
- Training
and Sensitizing the Cancer Care staff, the medical and para-medical
teams to human needs.
- Creating
an atmosphere and a field where healing takes place, with
understading
CCF has
effectively used Transactional Analysis is Supportive cancer care
- the patients are taught simple concepts that help them move
mout of their passivity and resistance caused by cancer.....
Ms. Lakshmi,
a 19 year old survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma declared:
"I love
Cance - because it has brought me in touch with so many
- otherwise I would not have stepped out of my village"
Pain,
suffering, even death are not tragic - what makes them so is
the accompanying helplessness and hopelessness - and it is here
that CCF makes a difference....
Renewing
