This
temple is located on Mettupalayam - Erode Main Road, 8 Kms from Avinashi.
'Karuvalur' refers to the holy place where rishi 'Sundaramoorthy Nayanar'
meditated and 'Lord Shiva' heeded to the prayers and brought back the
life of an infant. The child earlier drifted away by a crocodile came
back unharmed.
A temple was built here to mark the incident.The temple symbolises the Nayakkar architecture. The uniqueness of this temple is that the Godess Mariamman's idol is depicted in standing position, while in other places it is in sitting position. It is believed that the Goddess cures ailments like Chiken pox, Eye diseases.
